UK Office for Product Safety and Standards publishes enforcement report

The report details enforcement actions taken in the period 1 October 2017 to 31 March 2018. All actions relate to breaches of the Timber and Timber Products (Placing on the Market) Regulations 2013.

13 companies were subject to enforcement action for failure to implement measures to ensure that timber used in their products was not illegally harvested. Eleven of these companies subsequently complied and only two were prosecuted.

Angora Ltd (trading as Lombok) was fined £5,000 and Hardwood Dimensions (Holdings) Ltd was fined £4,000. Both companies also had to pay a victim surcharge and prosecution costs.
