ECHA updates guidance to companies on SCIP

ECHA has published a webinar explaining how companies can create and submit a SCIP notification. 

Companies are required to provide information on Substances of Concern In articles, as such or in complex objects (Products) to the SCIP database from 5 January 2021.

The webinar covers updates to the data submission and an overview of the notification process. There is also a demonstration of creating and submitting a dossier for an article as such and a complex object.

Extended Producer Responsibility for Packaging adopted in Maine

Maine has become the first US State to enact legislation that requires producers to fund the recycling of packaging and report annually on the quantity and type of packaging sold.

The Act To Support and Improve Municipal Recycling Programs and Save Taxpayer Money requires Maine’s Department of Environmental Protection to contract with a packaging stewardship organisation to finance recycling infrastructure and public education programs in the state.

ECHA Candidate list: 8 new substances added

ECHA adds 8 subsctances that are used in cosmetics, scented articles, rubber, textiles, solvents, flame retardants and manufacture plastics products to the Candidate List. Most have been added tbecause they are hazardous to human health.
