Consultation opens on Priority Products for Safer Products for Washington

The Department of Ecology for the State of Washington has launched a consultation on draft priority products to be regulated under Safer Products Washington (Chapter 70.365 RCW).

The consultation paper identifies the following products which are known to contain hazardous substances identified in 70.365 RCW.

Chemical Draft Priority Product
Flame retardants Electrical and electronic equipment (device casings)
PCBs Printing inks
PFAS Carpet
PFAS Aftermarket carpet treatments
Phenolic compounds Food cans (bisphenols)
Phenolic compounds Laundry detergent (alkylphenol ethoxylates)
Phenolic compounds Thermal paper (bisphenols)
Phthalates Vinyl flooring

Phthalates
Fragrances in personal care and beauty products

Interested parties are invited to submit comments by 2 March 2020.
