ECHA news: Important SCIP version 2.0 update

ECHA has announced an importance update to its SCIP database.

SCIP database version 2.0 will include the ability to search by SCIP number. This will provide downstream companies greater visibility regarding substances of concern in their sourced components.

Other improvements include:

  • Enhancements to the front-end portal will improve processing time of large and complex articles
  • Adaptation to the new IUCLID format
  • Updated Article identifiers search block now will have an option to search for Brand name, Serial number, EAN code, etc.

Enforcement project reveals high level of non-compliance with REACH and CLP legislation. 

For REACH, 78% of checked products including textiles, leather, childcare articles, toys and jewellery were found non-compliant.
