Following a review of legal requirements and risks associated with auditing of smelters in Russia, the Responsible Minerals Initiative has suspended RMAP assessments with immediate effect.
This audit suspension will affect Russian smelters currently on the conformant and active lists in line with existing RMI conformant list removal procedures. Smelters who have passed the one-year mark for an assessment and did not receive a re-assessment and determination letter confirming conformance by September 1, 2022 or 1 October 2022, will be removed by September 30, 2022 or January 31, 2023 respectively.
The suspension will remain in place pending future developments associated with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Organisations who have not already assessed their risks associated with sourcing from Russia and/or smelters not subject to audit processes should urgently review their compliance status and due diligence procedures.
