EU Commission consults on ecodesign requirements for mobile phones

The EU Commission has launched a public consultation on a draft regulation which establishes ecodesign requirements for ecodesign requirements for mobile phones, cordless phones and slate tablets.
Although this regulation is established under the current ecodesign directive, the requirements are consistent with those addressed in the proposed Sustainable Products Regulation, which is expected to replace it.
The draft regulation includes requirements to provide spare parts, facilitate disassembly, meet durability standards, label applicable parts with type of plastic and provide information regarding recycled content, use of critical raw materials and battery maintenance.
The consultation closes on 28 September 2022.
