Under the Waste Framework Directive, suppliers must provide information on the safe use of articles containing a substance of very high concern (SVHC) to ECHA. The SCIP database will enable companies to provide this data that can be accessed by waste operators as well as consumers.

Data requirements include:

  • the identification of the article
  • the name, concentration range and location of the SVHC in the article
  • guidance on safe use

A prototype version of the database will be launched in early 2020. The obligation to notify takes effect on 5 January 2021.
