China RoHS Conformity Assessment System announced

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has published the implementation arrangements for the conformity assessment system for the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products.

There are two methods of conformity assessment:

1) Voluntary certification by a third-party certification body approved by the State Administration for Market Regulation

2) Self-declaration by producers and authorised representatives with product conformity information submitted to a public service platform which is to be established by MIIT.

To demonstrate conformity, a logo is used on product which identifies whether conformity is via certification or self-declaration.

The implementation arrangements will apply to products listed in the Management Catalogue for the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products from November 1, 2019.
